Shipping Supervisor

Posting ID:      26954
Position Type:    Regular
City:    Wynndel, BC, Canada
Location:   Wynnwood

You’re a leader who inspires action. You exhibit enthusiasm, express sincere interest in colleague concerns and communicate effectively. Innovative, you’re a forward thinker who can research, analyze, and evaluate critical components to solve complex problems. You work well in fast-paced and challenging team environments and are comfortable managing conflict. What “wood” we do without you?

As the Mill Shipping Supervisor, you will be the primary contact at the Wynwood operation for coordinating the timely, efficient, and cost-effective movement of Canfor's Wood Products to the global market. You will oversee and report mill shipping execution issues to mitigate economic and operational impacts. You will also report to the supply chain teams any changes related to carrier service levels, documentation requirements, or EDI procedures for US shipments.

You will use your systematic problem-solving skills to perform statistical and analytical reporting, specifically inventory counts, and product tracking. You will also work collaboratively with the operations to maintain warehouse optimization and efficient inventory management. This role has a major focus on shipping over road and rail, which due to supply chain/rail car availability will require critical thinking to resolve. This is a perfect fit for your ambitiousness since you enjoy a good challenge.

What you will do:

  • Assist with forecasting planer production in accordance with Supply Chain directives
  • Coordinate planer-in requirements with sawmill production, in order to attain forecasted planer-out production
  • Coordination of all related production employees and equipment related to shipping
  • Determine & meet daily/weekly shipping requirements while achieving target inventories
  • Ensure that established safety, quality, cost, delivery, and employee engagement KPI's are met or exceeded on a consistent basis
  • New Driver Orientation
  • Inventory management and inventory reconciliation during month end
  • Work with all personnel to ensure compliance in safety, environment, company policies, and WorkSafe BC safety regulations
  • Foster a culture of knowledge sharing with other personnel

Ideally, you have relevant education and or experience with a focus on transportation/supply chain management. A certification in logistics, transportation, and logistics (CLTD) through APICS would be beneficial. Previous experience working with databases and business intelligence tools, as well as an understanding of transportation modes and systems will help you in your success. Industrial experience is good, but the proven ability to lead people is better.
