Our Indigenous Talent Program (ITP) aims to build and support our Indigenous community within Canfor and increase Indigenous participation within the forest economy. Our goal is to become the employer of choice for Indigenous Peoples.

The ITP seeks to attract Indigenous candidates and connect them with career opportunities through guidance, skill matching, access to advisors and interview preparation. The program offers continued support after the initial hire, through mentorship, targeted programs and community-building. We aim to provide a positive candidate and employee experience, through enhanced services and meaningful employment and career opportunities for Indigenous candidates.

Step 1: Do you identify as an Indigenous person?

To apply for the Indigenous Talent Program, you must be an Indigenous person. If you self-declare and formally state that you are Indigenous, Canfor offers additional support to assist with the application process, including resume building and interview preparation.

Please use the definition below to determine if you’re eligible and open to self-declaring as an Indigenous person:

Indigenous Peoples in Canada and the United States include status, non-status First Nation, Métis and Inuit people.

  • Only those Indigenous persons who come from Canada and the United States should identify themselves as belonging to this designated group.
  • Other Indigenous peoples, such as those from Mexico, Central and South America, Australia or elsewhere, should identify themselves as members of a visible minority group.

Step 2: Prepare your application

If you identify as an Indigenous job seeker, you may access additional support for your application from our Indigenous Employment and Training Advisor. Please email inclusion@canfor.com if you would like support with your resume or interview preparation.

We also encourage you to check out our FAQ and tips for how to write a resume and prepare for an interview, available here.

Step 3: Apply Online

When applying online to the Indigenous Talent Program, you can specify your position of interest by providing the job title and/or job requisition number, or indicate if there is a specific area of interest. After submitting your application and resume, it will be reviewed by our Talent Acquisition team. You will receive an email when you are matched with a position and may be required to provide additional information.

If you don’t have a position or specific department in mind, we can help match your skills and interests to current career opportunities at Canfor. Our Indigenous Employment and Training Advisor will have an open discussion with you to explore your career aspirations and find the best opportunity for you.

This program was developed to help unlock your potential and start your career with Canfor. We are happy to assist if you’re having difficulty applying. Email us at inclusion@canfor.com.
