Manager, Engineering - Pulp 

 

The Opportunity:
A key leadership opportunity exists at our Canfor Pulp Operations to join our Leadership Team as an Engineering Manager.

The Role:
The Engineering Manager will provide engineering and technical expertise to ensure the viability of Canfor's pulp mills to achieve or exceed production, safety and quality standards through new project installations and major repairs. The Engineering Manager will also:

  • Work with mill department leaders and project engineers to provide design concepts, cost estimates, economic justifications, appropriation requests, impact studies and recommend suppliers and contractors for proposed projects
  • Liaise with Production to schedule or set priorities on maintenance or new installations
  • Liaise with Technical and Environmental Departments ensuring process and environmental standards/codes are incorporated into designs
  • Develop annual and long-range capital plans and projects and oversee the Capital Budget Program
  • Assist in the preparation of regular project progress reports
  • Ensure work performed by members of the department or Contractors is consistent with terms of the Collective Agreement and Corporate Policy
  • Support management of change to minimize equipment and process risk

 

The Candidate:

  • Equipped with a Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical), you are a professional engineer registered or able to be registered with EGBC and have several years' broad-based experience.
  • Along with your awareness of new developments in pulp mill equipment and concepts and strong project management skills, you have a proven track record in leadership including safety, environmental, business improvement, reliability and performance management.
  • You will also possess excellent interpersonal and team building skills along with well-developed verbal, written, and oral presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities with the flexibility to effectively respond to continually changing internal and external business conditions would also be considered assets.
