As the Human Resources Manager, you will assume direct responsibility for the comprehensive administration, coordination, and evaluation of the human resource function at the Darlington Sawmill. Your role will entail providing essential services, contributing to policy and procedure development, overseeing recruitment and onboarding processes, and offering guidance on employee relations matters. This pivotal position integrates you into the plant management team, reporting directly to the Plant Manager and serving as a trusted advisor and strategic partner in all HR-related aspects of the operation.

 

A day in the life of the Human Resources Manager includes:

  • Collaborate closely with company leadership to uphold rigorous safety standards and enforce adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Partner effectively with Talent Acquisition to strategically identify and recruit top-tier candidates to meet staffing needs.
  • Conduct comprehensive applicant assessments, leveraging in-depth interviews and meticulous analysis.
  • Cultivate a culture of open communication and proactive resolution of employee concerns in collaboration with Plant Management.
  • Ensure meticulous compliance with all legal requirements and governmental regulations governing human resources functions.
  • Oversee the meticulous adherence to policies, procedures, and reporting protocols, in strict accordance with pertinent state and federal laws.
  • Strategically plan and execute comprehensive new employee orientation programs to instill a positive alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Facilitate targeted management training initiatives covering critical HR aspects such as interviewing, hiring, performance reviews, and workplace safety.
  • Develop and implement sophisticated talent management strategies aimed at attracting, nurturing, and retaining top talent to meet present and future organizational needs.
  • Maintain impeccable records of employee data, benefits enrollment, and personnel transactions while adeptly managing complex employee relations matters with sensitivity and discretion.

 

For this role come equipped with:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in human resources management or equivalent management experience
  • Solid understanding of the key principles of employment law
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents.  
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Proficient with computer technologies including MS Word, MS Excel, and Outlook Email/Calendar 

 

Ideally, you also possess a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university, along with familiarity with HR systems such as Kronos and SuccessFactors.
