The Opportunity:
Canfor is currently looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join our team as a Sales/Shipping Coordinator. Apply today, to bring your knowledge and expertise in sales forecasting, customer relationship management, and production optimization to this exciting opportunity.

The Role:
Reporting to the Finishing Superintendent, the Sales/Shipping Coordinator is responsible for timely shipment, accurate forecasting, achieving the highest possible lumber mill nets and maintaining a positive sales reputation. The incumbent will assist in the scheduling of the sawmill, planer and kiln production runs, and maintain inventory target levels while ensuring shipments are on time.

In this role, you will also provide pricing data for optimization solutions, and analyze kiln, planer, and sawmill output for maximum mill net. You will regularly provide feedback to senior management at the mill site.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Forecasting planer production in accordance with Supply Chain directives
  • Coordinate sawmill production, kiln-loading and planer-in requirements in order to attain forecasted planer-put production
  • Act as a direct liaison between sales and the mill to ensure customer requirements are met in a timely manner
  • Provide guidance on product optimization and return to mill analysis
  • Determine daily and weekly shipping requirements
  • Ensure that established safety, quality, cost, delivery, and employee engagement KPI''s are met or exceeded on a consistent basis
  • Work with all personnel to ensure compliance in safety, environment, company policies and WorkSafe BC safety regulations
  • Foster a culture of knowledge sharing with other personnel
     

The Candidate:

  • Minimum 3 years of Shipping experience, ideally in an industrial setting 
  • Grade 12 or equivalent. Preference will be given to candidates with relevant post secondary education in a relevant field 
  • Strong leadership skills would be considered an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities with the flexibility to effectively respond to continually changing internal and external business conditions
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive as a team member in a union environment
