Regional Safety Specialist

As our Regional Safety Specialist for Alberta Wood Products, you will oversee all safety programs and systems for our visions in the province. You will be the main resource to managers, employees, and contractors in the interpretation and application of all internal safety standards and regulatory requirements throughout the region.  

You bring your years of experience working in a workplace health and safety compliance, for bonus points your experience is in a manufacturing environment. You have a solid understanding and application of Health and Safety Regulations and your interpersonal and team building skills exceed all expectations. Ideally you are a Canadian Registered Safety Professional, or you are in the process of completing.

A day in the life of our Safety Specialist includes

• Oversite of our safety programs and systems
• Assisting in the development of policy and procedures
• Providing training
• Participating in internal and external audit programs
• Assists in the development and delivery of health and safety training by:
  • Supporting the implementation and on-going improvement of the Occupational Health and Safety Program and related Safety Management Systems consistent with the various Acts, Codes and Regulations.
  • Providing coaching and consultation to managers, safety committees and all employees on their accountability, roles and responsibilities, and legal obligations in the program and assisting them in integrating these duties into daily activities.
  • Collecting and analyzing incident investigations, incident severity, leading and lagging indicator data and communicates trends.

This position can be based out of any of our Alberta communities where we operate, including Acheson, Whitecourt, Fox Creek or Grande Prairie.  Day trips and occasional extended over-night travel should be expected.
