Electrical Engineer

You are a forward thinker who applies technical insight and analytical abilities to develop novel solutions. You plan prudently for the future, make sound decisions, and like to keep things organized. You have always had high “potential” and excel in effective and positive communications both written and orally.
As the Electrical Engineer / Technologist, you will be a member of the electrical and instrumentation group, operating in a position committed to safe and environmentally responsible practices. You will work closely with all team members on the design, implementation, and supervision of electrical projects including enhancements and modifications. Your excellent leadership skills will ensure all facilities can achieve maximum production and quality standards while maintaining cost efficiency and viability.
A day in the life of an Electrical Engineer includes:
- Leading Defect Elimination processes for root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Providing continuous improvement of preventive maintenance and condition monitoring programs using RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance)
- Playing a lead role in assessing electrical infrastructure to aid the development and implementation of 5year improvement plans
- Providing technical support for power and control issues and development of work procedures, standards, addressing of skill deficiencies and development of best practices
- Liaising with external stakeholders like BC Hydro, Technical Safety BC etc. for maintaining Canadian Electrical Code compliance and substation maintenance / operation best practices
This is your opportunity to work with a company who spares no expense on our annual engineering projects. Canfor’s modern Pulp mills will provide you with a variety of engaging work along with comprehensive formal and informal training & mentoring to keep your skills “current”. This is your chance to be an electrical engineer working in the forest sector- a “power ranger” one might say.
Ideally, you are equipped with a Bachelor of Science or an Electrical Engineering Degree, and you are either a member or eligible to register with APEGBC. If you have reliability experience working as a technologist, this will also “light up” your resume. Bonus points if you have industrial experience specifically in modern pulp or experience in guiding and working with a unionized workforce.
If you are a motivated and experienced leader, “wired” to work in teams, hit that “apply” button today!
Please note that if a wage scale is mentioned in our job posting, it was not provided by Canfor. Our compensation is highly competitive, equitable and reflective of our organizational values. We encourage you to apply for this position to learn more about the attractive Total Rewards package we offer at Canfor. #LI-GS1
