Job Description: Chop saw operator is required to trim defective wood out of ripped material from the Rip Saw. Maintaining the flow of material off the Rip Saw and also maintaining the flow of correctly graded and trimmed material onto the FJ Feed Conveyor in a safe and efficient manner.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibilities of the Chop Saw Operator include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

· Operators are to inspect their worksite for each of the following at the start of each shift:

· Equipment is in normal operating condition

· All guarding is in place and functional

· The Operator is required to be knowledgeable of all FJ Block Grade Rules used by the Marion FJ Division.

· Knots

· Wane

· Skip

· Slope of Grain

· Splits

· Unsound Wood

· Timber Breaks

· The operator is required to safely keep lumber flowing through the area according to production demands.

· Observes and follows all safety rules and regulations.

 

Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum one year of manufacturing experience and has knowledge of the wood manufacturing industry. Training will be available for qualified candidates.

 

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is required stand complete shift (8-10 hrs). The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
