We are seeking a Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst to support our Canadian Woodlands staff. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our Woodlands teams to understand their needs and deliver GIS and data solutions that enhance their operations.

 

The Opportunity:

This full-time position is part of our Digital Technology Team and will be based in either our Grande Prairie or Whitecourt offices. As a GIS Analyst, you will join our team of 10 GIS staff across B.C. and Alberta, providing GIS and data support to our Canadian operations. We strive to leverage our skills, data, and technology to drive customer success through innovation.

 

As a GIS Analyst your Responsibilities will include:

  • Data Solutions: Use our data and technology to implement solutions that solve Woodlands staff challenges and needs; Analysis, reports, automations, applications, tools, cartographic products, etc
  • Facilitate Standards: Work with our Woodlands staff to develop or improve standard datasets, processes and products
  • Data Management: Maintain and make available key datasets; Raster, vector and tabular
  • Planning, Prioritizing & Goal-Setting: Prepare for emerging customer needs; manage multiple projects; determine project urgency; use goals to guide actions; organize and schedule tasks
  • Assertiveness: Able to maturely express one’s feelings and opinions in spite of disagreement; accurately communicate to others regardless of their status or position
  • Analytical Problem Solving: Able to use a systematic approach in solving problems through analysis of problem and evaluation of alternative solutions
  • Leadership: Able to influence the actions and opinions of others in a desired direction
  • Teamwork: Be an active and engaging member of both the Digital Technology Team and of our larger Woodlands group
  • Travel: Some travel required between our Alberta operations and annually for team meetings

For this role, you'll come equipped with:

  • A degree or diploma in Geographic Information Systems, Natural Sciences (Forestry or Geography), Computer Science or related field
  • Strong understanding of GIS and data management
  • Proficient with ESRI ArcGIS Pro
  • Experience utilizing Python for automation of GIS processes
  • Experience using ArcGIS Enterprise and/or ArcGIS Online to develop web and mobile applications

Preference may be given to those with experience in:

  • Trimble LRM
  • Forestry, particularly Alberta forestry
  • SQL
  • FME
  • Power BI
