Sr. Business Analyst - 18 month Contract

The Opportunity:

Canfor is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to join the Project Team to lead Time and Attendance Management business requirements gathering and process design/redesign. The Senior BA will provide a comprehensive business requirements document that will be used by the Canfor Trainer to support the end-to-end training process. The Senior BA will begin with gathering current state business requirements and map out future state business processes and requirements; they will also complete a fit-gap analysis and design processes in response to those gaps while working closely with the operations, payroll and HR teams.


The Senior BA will support the Change Manager and the Training Lead in creating a training strategy and recommend curriculum design for each module of Kronos. These elements of work will be handed over to the Canfor Training Lead to deliver high-quality training. The Senior BA will consider process and system information as well as the contextual “bigger picture” when designing future state process and addressing the fit gap analysis. This position reports to the Project Manager, Canadian Payroll Project, with a functional reporting line to the HR Business Lead. Some travel within British Columbia may be required.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with multiple stakeholders to identify/confirm current state and future state, and conduct a fit/gap assessment ensuring the future state operational processes, workflows and knowledge transfer
  • Analyze business workflows and business requirements to create and refine user stories for the project.
  • Analyze current business processes, suggest improvements, and participate in the implementation of new functionality.
  • Analyze the new process and create user acceptance test scripts to support the QA lead with testing effort in region.
  • Work with the internal training team to ensure new functionality is clearly documented and is reflected accurately in training materials.
  • Provide post-implementation support to client’s payroll teams, 3rd party payroll partner, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop comprehensive future state business process maps and process documentation that feeds training curriculum with course overviews that allows flexibility of delivery across Canada
  • Develop a detailed business requirements document which promote knowledge transfer



The Candidate:

Skills & Abilities

  • Time and Attendance / Scheduling system implementations
  • Proven experience leading business processes for projects in complex environments
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office tools
  • Advanced facilitation and presentation skills
  • Excellent documentation and writing skills
  • Previous experience with Kronos is required.
  • Previous experience with SAP SuccessFactors is considered an asset
  • Change management experience or ADKAR Prosci certification considered an asset
  • Analytical, problem solver, documentation and workflows, when in doubt errs on the side of initiative
  • Strong understanding of Systems Development Life Cycle and project management methodology



  • Degree in business, information management or information technology, plus 6 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience (10+ years of experience)
  • A level of education, training, and experience in Information Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline and three (3) years of experience in informatics or information management role
