POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the delivery of EDGE, both sustainment and project initiatives. The Senior Manager will manage the business delivery resources and systems related to Canfor EDGE ERP Platform. Specifically, direct management of the Business Analyst resources (internal & external), as well as business facing effort (projects, etc.).

The EDGE platform is structured around 6 pillars of service: Order-To-Cash, Supply Chain Planning, Supply Chain Logistics / Transportation, Finance, Interfaces / middleware, and Legacy / bolt on applications used to complete the EDGE ERP platform. The Senior Manager role is required to work collaboratively management as well as external resources to deliver timely, cost-effective, efficient support of the EDGE ERP platform, as defined by our business partners.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

General

  • Identify and manage business requirements of all streams / workflows, core EDGE applications, EDGE bolt-on applications as defined by Canfor Business & IT Shared Service leadership
  • Expense, and Capital Budget planning - management.
  • Support and deliver intellectual and physical material to our SDLC projects, in their respective time-lines
  • Develop & maintain business system / ERP interfacing vendor / service relationships
  • Author / manage function specification Requirements, in accordance with our SDLC structure / workflow 
  • Ensure QA best practices are adhered in all phases of the SDLC life-cycle (UT, FUT, UAT, Regression)
  • Ensures Business Services Delivery team is adequately staffed
  • Ensures Business Services Delivery team is appropriately trained to meet current and future business requirements / demands
  • Develop and maintain a mentoring program that drive innovation and career development across your organization, as well as in support IT Shared Service ideals – structure
  • Nurture and foster a collaborative relationship with the technical delivery team
  • Look to leverage IT Shared Services resources and ability to deliver to Canfor business users

 

EDGE Platform Business Analysts

  •  Responsible for the day-to-day management and support of your team of EDGE Business Analysts responsible for delivering our suite of business systems - business functionality
  •  Track, mentor and develop your team resources
  •  Lead team in executing the IT Shared Services Project Portfolio Management set of templates, workflows, approvals, communications currently under Senior IT leadership review
  •  Continuously monitor the team’s capacity to deliver and maintain the correct balance of resource to business need. Provide this day-to-day monitoring communicate progress to the IT Shared Service leadership team.
  •  Manage external business delivery resources – managing risks associated with a hybrid of internal & external delivery resources
  •  Continuously look at opportunities to support the team, enhancing their ability to execute that responsibilities & duties
  •  Routinely report up on your team’s project / tasks list, communicating capacity to handle both EDGE business delivery sustainment demands, as well as new demands.

 

EDGE Business Systems Business Leads / Users

  •  Execute, as well as further develop the EDGE business owners adoption of, and awareness of the current, and potential functionality of Canfor business systems
  •  Develop and execute a routinely cadenced series of communications to report on the team’s project / tasks list, communicating capacity to handle both EDGE business delivery sustainment demands, as well as new demands
  •  Facilitate the business leaderships ongoing need to assimilate technologies into the EDGE platform, as well as prioritizing EDGE enhancements to continuously improve EDGE usefulness to the business

o Training on how to better use the EDGE Platform to do the job

 

LEVEL OF AUTHORITY

  •  Operating expenses / Project (and capital expenditure) management (budget will vary, next two years approximately $2-3M)
  •  Department staffing including performance management evaluation
  •  Work assignment within department

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EDUCATION

Education & Experience

  •  A bachelor’s degree in an IT related function
  •  5+ years of experience leading cross functional development teams
  •  5+ years of experience working in, or leading a large-scale enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution
  •  Project Management experience leading software upgrades or major initiatives
  •  10+ years of technical software system management / delivery within a distributed environment
  •  Ideally, 3-5 years of experience in the Forest Timber industry.

  •  Ideal candidate has experience communicating technical concepts to business stakeholders
  •  Strong interpersonal, leadership and communicative skills
  •  Experience driving change through process, behavior and technology
  •  Managing Budgets / Forecasting Capital and Expenses

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work schedules can be irregular and subject to frequent interruption, often to respond to urgent issues and tight deadlines. The position generally is involved in a number of projects at once.

Up to 25% travel may be involved.
