Senior Manager, Finance

The Senior Manager, Finance is a leader in the Corporate Reporting team, reporting directly to the Director of Corporate Reporting & Technical Analysis, and will work closely with finance teams across the global delivery model to coordinate best-in-class financial reporting, accounting and analysis for Canfor and Canfor Pulp.  

 

The Senior Manager, Finance will be a key member of Canfor’s Finance team with involvement in a full range of operational, financial and management reporting and analysis. The Senior Manager, Finance will also provide guidance to accountants across Canfor and Canfor Pulp to assist with ensuring compliance with reporting and accounting standards (IFRS) and will play a key role in the preparation and oversight of consolidated internal and external financial reporting packages.  

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES   

 

Financial Reporting 

  • Key member of the Finance team, with responsibilities including internal and external reporting for Canfor and Canfor Pulp monthly, quarterly and annually;   

  • Involvement with quarterly and annual financial reporting including review of financial statements, assisting with preparation of the MD&A and assisting with coordination of review/audit processes for Canfor and Canfor Pulp;   

  • Participate in monthly reporting and analysis for the Executive team for both Canfor and Canfor Pulp and the Audit Committee;  

  • Develop relationships across both companies to stay in touch with latest developments in the business and improve ability to influence going forward; 

  • Identify opportunities to add value to the business either in terms of streamlining processes, improving quality of information presented to senior management or preparation of new analysis; and 

  • Play leadership role in finance integration/change management, with particular focus on capturing improvements from various major company-wide integration initiatives, driving greater efficiency and effectiveness of company-wide financial performance effort.  

 

Corporate Accounting 

  • Assist with managing the accounting, reporting and analysis for Head Office and Shared Service departments (HR, IT, Finance, Supply Chain, etc.); 

  • Provide senior management and business leaders with meaningful reporting and analysis to support decision-making and initiatives; and 

  • Build and mentor the team to be process-minded and business-focused and driven to become trusted finance partners to the business units. 

 

Special Project Work 

  • Responsible for interpreting unique and complex transactions, and determining appropriate accounting treatment under IFRS; as well as ensuring compliance with new/amended IFRS and accounting policies for Canfor and Canfor Pulp; remain up to date on current and future IFRS accounting standards and update businesses stakeholders, as necessary; and 

  • Participate in ad hoc value-added projects. 

 

Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement 

  • Provide continuous training and mentorship to the Finance team;   

  • Communicate Finance-related concepts and results efficiently and effectively, to senior management, maximizing impact and usage;  

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels as a strategic business partner; and 

  • Identify opportunities to add value either in terms of streamlining processes, improving quality of information presented to senior management or preparation of new analysis.

The salary range for this position is: $121,000.00-$151,000.00
