Manager, Sustainability

As the Manager of Sustainability, you will be responsible for the operational execution of Canfor’s corporate sustainability strategy. You will advance our sustainability strategy through cross-functional collaboration and identifying opportunities to evolve processes, policies, and sustainability governance. You will also support the development of goals, targets, and monitor performance by engaging directly with function leads and driving understanding and commitment to our sustainability strategy. This is a role where you will influence rather than direct so your powers of persuasion will certainly come into play.


Reporting to Director, Sustainability & Environment, you will develop and maintain strong internal working relationships with the sustainability-working group, operations, and corporate teams. You will also work to build strong networks with external stakeholders and partners such as communities, our Indigenous partners, customers, industry associations, and governments. You will endeavor to create long-term stakeholder value through the implementation of a strategy that focuses on the ethical, social, environmental, cultural, and economic dimensions of doing business.


In a perfect world, you have multiple years of experience in areas such as strategy development and implementation, governance, stakeholder engagement, and program management as well as a past in coordinating and implementing company-wide initiatives.  Your previous experience could also include roles with a good deal of stakeholder management or internal engagement. Bonus points will be awarded if you have a bachelor’s degree in a related field of study.
