The Opportunity:

The Manager, Business Delivery  will strategize, define and lead the Business Analysts in the delivery of EDGE, including both sustainment and project initiatives. This role will collaborate with Canfor Forest Products (CFP), Canfor Southern Pine (CSP), and Canfor Pulp businesses in addition to several IT teams to improve the way we deliver EDGE projects and enhancements.


Key Responsibilities: 

Project / Enhancement Demand Management

  • Work with Sr. Director - Enterprise Systems and the business to determine potential enhancement/opportunities
  • Together with Sr. Director - Enterprise Systems, run prioritization meetings with the business (across Supply Chain Planning (SCP)/ Order to Cash (OTC) / Supply Chain Logistics (SCL))
    • Manage top 10 enhancement list by EDGE stream with Business stakeholder’s primary in Canada and across Canfor.
  • Liaison to business/IT for assigned projects
    • Business communications of all project status / enhancement work status
    • Developing Activity Schedules and resource balance them


Project Delivery

  • Document business requirements
  • Document a solution concept and/or process flow
  • Develop Functional Specification Documents (FSD) in adequate detail for developers (or other Business Analyst (BAs) / Systems Analysts (SAs) to write Technical Specification Documents (TSD) or complete the build
  • Set up data for unit testing (when appropriate)
  • Assist with unit testing (when appropriate)
  • Work with developers when there are issues found in unit testing or when they have questions on expected functionality or specifications
  • Perform functional unit testing on development objects to confirm they are working in line with the documented specifications
  • Document defects/bugs and communicate to developers in enough detail so that fixes can be made quickly
  • Document results of testing
  • Co-ordinate user testing (UAT) and obtain approval for those to be promoted to Production
  • Develop (or assist with development of) training materials for complicated enhancements / projects
  • Communicate to users when significant enhancements / changes have been deployed to Production
  • Perform Data Conversion activities such as mass loading records into the system (like Address Book)



  • Analyze and resolve incident tickets
  • Develop integrity reports for ongoing system issues (prior to fixes being completed)
  • Respond to business users' questions on system functionality and issues (often in advance of a ticket being logged


Method Coach / Center of Excellence

  • Performance and talent management of BA team
  • Lead and manage the BA team in developing better FSD, TSD documents
  • Act as a gatekeeper by reviewing documents, coaching and provide feedback to other BA’s
  • Lead the BA's in methods to communicate, lead IT/Business meetings effectively
  • Lead the BA's with release process:
  • Deployment of application and identification of dependencies
  • Develop Knowledge Transfer process and documents for sustainment team
  • Develop Training documents and information material as necessary


Succession Planning & Backup

  • Work with Sr. Director - Enterprise Systems to develop a backup Business Delivery Manager to enable succession  in the next 12 months



The Candidate:

Education & Experience

  • Strong Business Process Analysis skills with ability to work with different facets of the business including Finance, SCP, OTC, SCL
  • Ideally, 3-5 years of experience in the Forest Timber industry.
  • Previous Project Management experience
  • Desire to lead a team of high-caliber team members
  • Genuine desire to develop people and improve their skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility to respond to continually changing internal and external business conditions
