The Opportunity:

 

Reporting to the Sales Accounting team lead, the Financial Accountant is responsible for a wide range of accounting and reporting functions for Lumber and Pulp sales transactions utilizing the global ERP system.

 

The Role:

  • Perform month-end sales accounting and reporting tasks, including sub-ledgers and ledgers associated with sales offices in North America and Offshore
  • Reconcile sub-ledgers for Lumber and Pulp sales, inventory, freight accrual and payable with multi-leg freight accrued from source to final customer
  • Manage customer rebate and agent commission accrual, reconciliation and payment
  • Balance inter and intra company accounts across the sales organizations
  • Prepare monthly financial report packages for Lumber and Pulp sales
  • Gain a thorough understanding of end to end business processes and system flow of such processes
  • Obtain a detailed understanding of pricing related setups in JD Edwards including transfer pricing, distribution of freight costs, and allocation of overhead costs
  • Utilize the understanding of ERP system and business processes to identify and solve issues by working in collaboration with cross-functional resources
  • Provide support to the business analytics team in identifying opportunities to enhance margins and reduce working capital
  • Streamline processes, improve documentation of standard work and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve continuous improvement

 

The Candidates:

 

  • Completion of CPA program or near completion
  • A strong understanding of IFRS and public company reporting requirements an asset
  • Proficiency with MS Office products and experience with ERP systems and BI tools
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented, analytical, highly motivated, and a self-starter
  • Strong team player with relentless work ethic and the ability to prioritize
  • Ability to utilize systems and tools to find, extract and analyze required data
  • Ability to adapt to changes in current policies and processes due to new guidelines
