Co-op, Finance (8 Month Term)

The Role:
The Co-op, Finance will play a supporting role within the Finance, Corporate & Enterprise Shared Services functions. They will be a shared rotational resource across multiple functions within Finance: Credit & Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payable, Corporate Finance, and Finance Transformation. As a result, the Co-op, Finance will be exposed to a variety of operational responsibilities and projects in which they will gain a holistic view and meaningful understanding of the various functions within Finance and the crucial role they play in the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Credit & Accounts Receivables
Provides support to the Credit Department by gathering, organizing, and maintaining all documentation required for new and existing customer accounts, ensuring timely, accurate information is available throughout the credit approval process. This involves consistent follow‑up with customers and internal teams to obtain credit applications, tax exemption certificates, credit references, and other key documents, while also identifying and resolving discrepancies as they arise. Projects may include:

- Supporting in audits
- Data transition from OBIEE to Microsoft Fabric
- Power BI automation improvements.
Accounts Payable & Finance Transformation
Acts as resourcing support to the Accounts Payable team by carrying out invoice processing, issuing payments, and reconciliation as needed. Finance Transformation projects may include:

- Process mapping and creation of SOPs and quick reference job aids
- Creation of a knowledge base for AI- implementation of an Accounts Payable Helpdesk Chatbot
- Paperless/Digital campaign:
- Convert vendors to digital payment
- Convert Symbeo vendors to Coupa
Corporate Finance
Supports the Analytics Manager, Regional Controllers, and Divisional/Woodlands Accountants in the Wood Products Canada operations. There will be exposure to building & maintaining analytical models & KPIs, Budget maintenance, monthly/quarterly forecast reviews, cost reports, and providing financial data to support the business in making operational decisions. Activities may include:

- Ad Hoc Journal Entry support for Month End activities
- Data management & analytical model support
- Supporting the building of operational analysis
The Candidate:
The successful candidate will be a motivated Co‑op student currently pursuing post‑secondary studies in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, with aspirations to obtain their CPA designation as part of their long-term career endeavors.
They will bring foundational knowledge of accounting principles with a thirst for learning and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate must also possess strong written and oral communication skills and be flexible and adaptable to work in a variety of functions within the Finance team. A strong proficiency in technology and aptitude for learning is required.
Key Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Working towards Accounting designation (CPA), an asset.
- Strong computer skills and solid background working with Microsoft 365 applications. Experience with Power Apps and Power BI is an asset.
- Any experience or exposure to ERP systems, JDE and other Oracle systems would be an asset.
- Well organized, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritise, deadline driven and able to handle multiple time-sensitive tasks successfully.

The salary range for this position is: $42,000.00-$60,000.00
