The Opportunity:
The Supervisor-in-Training will work alongside management to provide leadership to the team while rotating throughout various areas of the mill for the first 6 months to a year in this role. Following their successful training and development this candidate will transition to the night shift Planer Mill Supervisor role.
The following is a list of duties that this person will complete. (This is not an exhaustive list.)
- Must be available to work night shift (this role is eligible for shift differential pay), occasional holidays and weekends
- Always assist in maintaining the highest standards of safety, leading by example and ensuring all employees follow policies, procedures and practices.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to reduce cost, while safely maintaining production targets.
- Actively participate in coaching, training and supporting team members to maximize performance.
- Demonstrate leadership and foster a culture of open communication with employees at all levels.
- Assist in ensuring the timely implementation of key corporate and operational initiatives.
Requirements:
- Recent college graduate with a relevant degree in Forestry, Industrial Manufacturing, Business, or related topics or a minimum of 5 years of work-related experience in managing production and/or maintenance.
- Responsible, hardworking, self-motivated, and willing to work on all shifts in all conditions.
- Good interpersonal skills and communication.
- Ability to analyze and troubleshoot.
- Enthusiastic, positive attitude.
- Knowledge of the lumber manufacturing process would be an asset.
- Experience and a good track record in boiler safety.
