Regional Safety Manager

The Opportunity: Reporting to the Area Operations Manager,  the objective of the Regional Safety Manager is to work with Divisional Management, Plant Management, and employees to implement, execute, and sustain safety programs, policies, procedures, innovations, work practices, and working conditions that reduce or eliminate work-related incidents at all CSP facilities in Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana (4 Wood Manufacturing Facilities).

 

We have the opportunty to allow our ideal candidate the flexibility to make one of the following 4 mills their "Base" location: Hermanville, MS, Urbana AR, El Dorado, AR, or DeRidder, LA. 

 

Responsibilities:

•    Maintain the highest standards with respect to safety at all times, leading by example

•    Act as a resource for CSP (Canfor Southern Pine) facilities in Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana in the development and implementation of standardized safety and loss prevention programs

•    Collaborate with management teams on safety training for all employees

•    Research and present innovations in safety and loss prevention and encourage management participation in implementation

•    Be the lead contact for Strategic Comp Loss Prevention activities at each operation

•    Review, revise and audit Safety Orientation of all employees on a regular basis

•    Provide regular updates and reports for Divisional Management

•    Conduct GAP Assessments and work with Plant Management to keep facilities in compliance

•    Support the implementation of Canfor’s Loss Prevention programs including fire prevention

•    Implement, and enforce corporate safety inititiaves being a leader in change management 

•    Foster a culture of open communication with employees in all departments and at all levels

 

Requirements:

•    Regular travel between Regional including but not limited to Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana (4 out of our 16 US wood manufacturing facilities) *Company Vehicle Provided 

•    Minimum 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in the sawmilling or wood products industry

•    Minimum 5-7 years of leadership experience in managing safety programs and implementation

•    Proven supervisory and leadership abilities and must work effectively in a team environment to successfully bring about change

•    College degree in Business or an Industrial related field is considered an asset and additional safety course work preferred

•    Champion of safety at all times and a subject matter expert in OSHA regulations and safety best practices

•    Working knowledge of web-based computer applications and Microsoft Office

•    Advanced verbal and written communications skills

•    Excellent interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills
