The Opportunity:
The successful applicant will be an energetic team player that will apply their strong troubleshooting skills by performing maintenance and repairs on our rolling stock.
Responsibilities:
- Taylor & Hyster forklifts (ex: 360, 160, etc.)
- Volvo Log Loader
- CAT Log Loader
- CAT Knuckle Boom
- Prentice Knuckle Boom
- Bobcat Skid Steer
- Various Maintenance Trucks
- Portable Welders and Air Compressors
Required Skills:
- 3-5 years' experience as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic
- The ability to operate mobile equipment for test purposes
- Experience with hydraulics and welding
- Superior troubleshooting skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Solid background in heavy industry and construction
- Knowledge of Cat, Kalmar and Taylor equipment would be an asset, as well as knowledge of the lumber manufacturing process
*** Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure safety standards are met by following Canfor safe work and lockout procedures
- Maintain and repair mobile equipment such as Taylor, Kalmar & Hyster forklifts, Wagner log loader and La Tourneau log loader, etc.
- Operate mobile equipment for test purposes and test-drive vehicles to ensure that they run smoothly
- Follow a checklist of inspection procedures
- Raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts or equipment by using hydraulic jacks or hoists
- Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, transmissions, engines, and other parts of vehicles
- Perform routine maintenance, such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and parts
- Adjust and align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and attach system components
- Repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts, and other mechanical or electrical equipment
