The Opportunity:

Our Taylor Pulpmill is currently looking for an Area Team Lead. Reporting into the Production Manager the Area Team is is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to the Bleach and Finishing End area team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and scheduling all maintenance activities including annual maintenance outages
  • Troubleshooting systems to maintain optimal performance on quality parameters
  • Developing crew-training programs and evaluate operator training competency
  • Monitoring the overall safety performance and reliability of the Bleaching and Finishing End Area
  • Ensuring all environmental systems are operating within permit levels
  • Developing annual budgets and long-term project scopes
  • Monitor cost KRIs (daily/weekly/monthly) Bleaching costs, bale quality, shipping/warehouse inventory,
  • Implementation of Taylor Specific and Quad Mill policies, programs and practices
  • Reviewing, upgrading and maintaining the integrity of all area/departmental policies, procedures and regulations
  • Identify needs for new projects and initiate the AOC/AFE process
  • Manage Crew changes
  • Responsible for performance and development of Bleach and Finishing End Team members
  • Work with Technical group to determine quality specs
  • Manage re-pulp inventories
  • Continuous Improvement of systems and processes in Bleach and Finishing End Area


The Candidate:

  • Experience in the pulping process combined with relevant post-secondary technical education
  • Supervisory experience with the ability to develop further into leadership roles
  • Proven track record in leadership including safety, environmental, business improvement and performance management
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills
  • Well-developed written, verbal and oral presentation and communication skills
  • High degree of flexibility to manage changing work priorities
  • High degree of initiative and resourcefulness
  • Strategic and analytical thinker
  • Ability to effectively manage people in a cross functional team environment
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Proficiency with computerized maintenance and production management systems, databases and spreadsheets
