The Permitting Supervisor is responsible for the completion of permitted volume to meet the identified manufacturing facility needs and company requirements. This position is a part of the Canfor Woodlands team.

The Role:

  • Ensure activities are conducted in compliance with all applicable Occupational Health and Safety Requirements, forestry legislation, Canfor's Environmental Policy, Forestry Principles and Forestry Management System
  • Includes supervision of layout and cruising, completion of site plans, appraisals, engineered cost estimates, preparation of information for electronic submissions and completing electronic submissions
  • Manage and complete all activities associated with Cutting Permit and Road Permit Acquisitions, including Site Plans, Appraisals, Engineered Cost Estimates etc
  • Participate in the development of annual budgets to achieve business plan targets
  • Providing and supporting a positive atmosphere for personal, professional and team development
  • Meeting Woodland's goals with respect to delivery of a profile and species mix of timber within or below approved budgets
  • Ensure that contractors comply with applicable internal and external health and safety requirements, including SAFE company certification
  • Demonstrate innovation by implementing efficiencies and cost savings through the Canfor Performance Management processes and Continuous Improvement initiatives


The Candidate:

The successful candidate will bring the following experience and expertise:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as an RPF or RFT with the Association of BC Forest Professionals
  • Associated University degree or technical diploma with a minimum of 3 years of related forestry experience
  • Excellent leadership, communication and project management skills, with the ability to work within a team environment
  • Knowledge of applicable BC Forestry and related legislation and policies
  • Proficient in the use of computers and related software to forestry applications
