The Stores Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the storeroom at Canfor’s Northwood Pulp Mill, ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient inventory management to support both Maintenance and Operations. You will act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in warehouse management, driving inventory optimization, procedural compliance, and the implementation of best practices in materials handling. In this role, you will also be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers while coaching and mentoring a team of hourly employees.
A day in the life of the Stores Supervisor includes:
- Leadership of the storeroom team, including training, coaching, and performance development
- Safety & Housekeeping
- Lead and participate in regular safety and crew meetings
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, health, and environmental regulations
- Promote and maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment
- Supervision
- Monitor performance and productivity of staff
- Manage daily staffing, scheduling, and overtime to control operating costs
- Inventory and Warehouse Management
- Oversee receiving, inspection, storage, issue, transfer, and return of materials
- Verify inventory accuracy through transactions and cycle counts
- Review reorder levels and determine optimal procurement strategies (purchase, hold, cancel, transfer)
- Implement and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Maximize value from disposal of surplus, scrap, and salvage inventory
- Drive continuous improvement by introducing new technologies and warehousing methods
- Supplier Management
- Build and maintain effective relationships with vendors and service providers
- Explore opportunities for vendor-managed inventory and consignment options
- Collaboration
- Work closely with Maintenance and Operations to ensure inventory aligns with production needs
- Support planning and scheduling processes through timely materials availability
For this role you’ll come equipped with:
- Several years of experience in warehouse management, supervision, and supply chain logistics
- Strong knowledge of computerized inventory systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo) and business applications
- Understanding of supply chain principles, transportation regulations, and contract basics
- Previous experience in an industrial environment, with familiarity in asset management best practices
- Proven ability to manage inventory risk and drive efficiency
- Post-secondary education in Business, Logistics, or a related technical discipline is preferred
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset

The salary range for this position is: $98,000.00-$122,500.00
