Your primary focus will be to provide the operations management team with relevant financial and statistical analysis in regards to strategic plans and operating budgets. As a key member of the Canfor Pulp finance team you will be trusted with preparing and presenting a full range of operational, financial and management accounting reporting on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis. You will also assist providing coverage for weekly cost reporting, KPI reporting and the preparation of the annual business plan and forecasting.
A day in the life of a Senior Operations Accountant’s will include:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statements and a full range of supporting analysis and reports
- Prepare annual and quarterly forecasts, and assist with special project support for operations and mill management
- Work closely with maintenance manager to build, forecast, track, maintain and report on maintenance budget
- Review and evaluate capital and extraordinary maintenance projects as required
- Assist management with departmental budget control, cost reduction initiatives and cost/benefit analysis, and provide financial information and recommendations
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to the production and sales finished goods inventory reconciliation
- Organize and lead the annual finished goods physical mill inventory count
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end closes
- Prepare monthly and quarterly leadership presentations for the General Manager
- Monitor, analyze and review coding and approval routing of requisitions, work orders and change orders in Canfor’s Maintenance Management System
- Provide external and internal audit support and ensure compliance with internal controls, corporate policies and IFRS
- Coordinate and liaise with both internal and external customers
- Support other members of the financial team when required
- Provide financial support and back-up for the Controller as required
- Mobile equipment – quad mill building of annual mobile equipment AFE and well as quarterly AFE submissions, tracking and approving on all mobile equipment purchases and major rebuilds
- Preparation of annual ICBC mobile equipment insurance (quad mill), as well as provide quad mill mobile equipment listings and FMV for annual property insurance
- Other duties as assigned
Ideally, you have your CPA designation and/or have 5+ years of related accounting experience, preferably in an industrial manufacturing environment. You have strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail and the insatiable need to be in a fast-paced environment. The salary range for this position is: $98,000.00-$122,500.00
