Engineer/Specialist, Reliability – Pulp

 

The Opportunity:
Canfor is currently seeking a motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Reliability Engineer/Specialist.

The Role:
Reporting to the Reliability Team Leader, this position is for a technically strong engineer with effective communication and leadership skills, high energy and motivated. The role includes establishing effective maintenance strategies and standards for continuous improvement of equipment reliability.

Specifically the incumbent will:

  • Assist in the management of condition monitoring systems (Vibration Analysis, Thermography, etc.)
  • Lead the Defect Elimination process for root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Continually improve the preventive maintenance program using RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance)
  • Support Area Teams in achieving production/cost goals through reliability leadership
  • Work closely with lubrication mechanics and the lubrication improvement program
  • Support NDE examination of equipment
  • Support risk based inspection of fixed assets
  • Provide technical support for Operational and Maintenance Teams
  • Generate statistical reviews of equipment maintenance history and production loss

This Reliability leadership role requires working closely with all production team members and provide technical support. This position provides the incumbent exposure to many key aspects of our business and operational departments across four mills, as well as challenging reliability opportunities.

 

The Candidate:

  • Applicants should possess a solid background in reliability roles with a passion for working with people on broad improvement initiatives.
  • Your background would be either a Mechanical Engineer or you are a member of, or eligible to register with, APEGBC at least as an Engineer in Training (EIT).
  • You should also have demonstrable expertise in the continuous improvement of equipment and strong computer proficiency.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with pulp and paper mill or heavy industry maintenance.
  • Previous supervisory experience would also be an asset.
  • Working knowledge of equipment maintenance best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to effectively retrieve and analyze data.
