The Opportunity:
The Operations Lead, Residual Fibre is a key member of the “One Canfor” Residual Fibre team. This position will collaborate with all internal and external residual fibre suppliers and Canfor Pulp wood yards to continuously improve the recovery and quality of residual fibre products across the entire supply chain.

The Operations Lead, Residual Fibre will help to identify trends and opportunities while assuming a leadership role in cross functional teams established to identify and implement improvements that will enhance the residual fibre business.


The Role:
This hands-on position demands a respectful and professional working relationship with the family of Canfor businesses focused primarily in Central and Northern British Columbia and Alberta, including external fibre suppliers, service providers and customers in order to forge long term positive working relationships.

  • Working with all Canfor operations and Canfor Pulp’s 3rd party residual fibre suppliers to support the continuous improvement of the processes that support the production, recovery, quality, storage, transportation and handling of all residual fibre products throughout central and northern British Columbia and Alberta, with primary focus in the Prince George and Peace operations (up to 75% travel may be involved).
  • Acting as the liason with residual fibre suppliers and support the training, development and execution of the residual fibre management systems.
  • Working with the business to identify and improve the key performance indicators that support the efficient and effective production and use of residual fibre products, including action identification, implementation, tracking and monitoring.


The Candidate:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity and working in a team environment.
  • College and/or university education in Forestry, Wood Products Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, or a background in Business Management considered an asset.


Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of wood products manufacturing, with an emphasis of the maintenance processes that relate to the production and recovery of residual fibre products
  • Knowledge of chip quality testing, and moisture sampling procedures.
  • Knowledge of all relevant residual fibre conversions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, and communication skills including working in a team environment, and written and oral presentations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the desire to accept the challenge of working in a continually changing internal and external business environment.
  • A proven track record in safety, environment, business improvement and performance management.
  • Excellent skills associated with an ability to serve a multiple of stakeholders and achieve consensus.
  • Experience in conflict resolution.
