The Opportunity:
Canfor is currently seeking a talented and enthusiastic mechanical engineering university graduate and EIT to undertake a paid internship in the field of their study.

The program provides the intern with the opportunity to explore the exciting opportunities that exist in our operations and will help the intern develop their career path. Graduates will gain an understanding of Canfor Pulp Limited Partnership’s business and values, develop excellent decision-making skills, critical thinking skills and create a realistic development plan.

The Role:
Operating in an environment committed to safe and environmentally responsible practices, the Mechanical Engineering Intern will join the Engineering Department where you will report to the Engineering Manager.



Key Responsibilities:

You will work closely with all team members to provide sound technical support to the maintenance and production departments. This support consists of varied tasks from the troubleshooting, analysis and design of solutions to maintenance or reliability problems, to the development, management and supervision of capital improvement projects - utilizing both mill and contract resources.

Your mandate will be to assist the engineering and operating groups to ensure facilities are reliable and capable of achieving maximum production and quality standards while maintaining cost efficiency and viability.

The Candidate:

  • Forward thinking, flexible and resourceful, you can apply your technical insight and analytical abilities to develop novel solutions.
  • You are a graduate of a Mechanical Engineering (or related) Degree program within the last year 3 years and are a member of, or eligible to register with, APEGBC at least as an Engineer in Training (EIT).

Your personal attributes include well developed interpersonal and communication skills, a creative yet pragmatic approach to problem solving and the ability to work in teams.
