The Opportunity:
Canfor
is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer Co-op Student to join our team. In this role, you will gain relevant experience working in an industrial setting and apply your educational background to everyday challenges.

The Role:
The position will report directly to the Maintenance/Engineering Manager and you will:

  • Assist with evaluating equipment problems and failures to determine “root cause” with the goal of eliminating future failures by implementing long term corrective measures.
  • Contribute technical support and planning to the Maintenance and Production departments.
  • Identify, design and implement innovative, high return projects that enhance the operation and maintenance of the facility.
  • Enter data into assets systems.
  • Provide support for contractors on various major projects.

The Candidate:

  • Previous experience in the Pulp and Paper Industry is an asset.
  • Preference is completion of first or second term 3rd year Mechanical Engineering.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; capable of working in a team environment.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Currently enrolled or have graduated within the last year from post-secondary Mechanical Engineering or related field.
     

The Incentive

  • Competitive salary - $54,500.00-57,500.00 depending on year of study and experience.
  • Benefits package includes core medical coverage.
  • If applicable, Co-op fees will be paid for by Canfor

The salary range for this position is: $54,500.00-$56,000.00
