The Opportunity:
Canfor is currently seeking a motivated and experienced leader to join our team as a Manager, Capital Finance & Analytics.

The Role:

The Manager, Capital Finance & Analytics is a key member of the Wood Products Canada Finance team, responsible for providing full range of, financial and management accounting, reporting and analysis related to capital projects and operations. In addition, the position provides key support to the senior operation managers for financial analysis, operational forecasting, planning and strategic guidance.

 

In this role, you will also be responsible for ensuring that appropriate systems, procedures, and internal controls are in place to maximize on the efficiency and effectiveness of the financial functions related to our capital program.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Director, of Finance Wood Products Canada (WPC) the Manager, Capital Finance & Analytics areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Responsible for providing financial guidance, forecasting, project costing, capital asset tracking and reporting for WPC capital programs
  • Managing the capital approval (Authority for Expense) process for WPC
  • Provide financial support and guidance, working closely with senior operations management teams
  • Mentoring operations personnel on financial matters
  • Coordination and liaison with both internal and external customers
  • Oversee the design and delivery of reports and insights that analyze business functions and key operations and performance metrics
  • Build, develop and maintain data models, reporting systems, data automation systems, dashboards, and performance metrics that support key business decisions.

 

Required Skills:

The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail, superior communication and MS Office Suite skills, as well as:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting or Professional Designation (MBA, CFA, CPA) plus five or more years’ experience at a Senior level; or, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, written and organizational skills, as well as the ability to lead and work effectively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated experience writing and editing financial reports with the proven ability to maintain and create financial planning and forecasting processes.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Exceptional business acumen with an eye for identifying innovative and value-added opportunities
  • Strong collaboration, facilitation and design decision support
  • Effectively multi-task and prioritize workload across multiple projects concurrently.
  • Build and maintain relationships across many different functions and organization levels, and/or internal and external stakeholders.
