The Opportunity:
As a member of the Finance team, the Junior Financial Accountant, Co-Op will be responsible for processing accurate information that will support the Financial Accounting Services group and the Finance team.

The Role:
This position requires well-established organizational skills, a high level of motivation and energy, excellent communication skills and a desire to work in a dynamic team environment. Depending on the successful candidate’s skills and interests, the ability to tailor and grow the responsibilities of the position may be available.

Skills You'll Learn:

  • Knowledge in the areas of: Key Performance Indicator (“KPI”) reporting, accounting policy, transactional data flow (including processes and controls);
  • Analytical techniques;
  • Presentation and communication skills;
  • Working in a team environment.

Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Assist with transactional data processing and/or review:
    • Miscellaneous accounts payable
    • Recognition of expenses and accruals
    • Weekly and Daily cost and labour reporting
    • Routine financial tasks such as Summary Billing reviews and residual slip reconciliations
  • Various month end duties which include:
    • Journal Entries
    • KPI Reports
    • Account reconciliations
  • Provide backup and support to other accounting personnel;
  • Various analytical tasks as assigned;
  • Responsibilities will vary depending on levels of education.
  • The specific job duties may change as the needs of the team change.


The Candidate:

The successful candidate will bring, at the minimum, the following experience and expertise:

  • Candidate must be pursuing an accounting degree or have completed one within the last year and interested in pursuing a CPA designation;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and Word are essential;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Currently enrolled in 3rd or 4th year or have graduated with a degree within the last year from a post-secondary Accounting program or related field.
