Field Assistant

You’re a motivator who builds relationships naturally. You have an innate ability to adapt to changing situations and have a great understanding of the ins and outs of the forestry industry.

As the Silviculture Field Assistant, you’ll be assisting with the planning and implementation of all of our Silviculture programs. This can include post-harvest assessments, site preparation, silviculture surveys and other exciting tasks.  You like to see improvement in the things you work on, so you will be able to use your significant experience to implement cost effective treatments and actively engage in the Canfor Operating System deployment strategies.

 

In a perfect world, you are working on obtaining an associated university degree or technical diploma. Ideally you are working towards an RFT, FIT or RPF Certification with the Association of BC Forestry Professionals. You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, can easily navigate a Microsoft office environment and have experience with other forest industry software applications.

 

A day in the life of a Silviculture Field Assistant will include:

  • Implement and manage Silviculture program activities, which include post-harvest assessments, site preparation, seed collection, reforestation, silviculture surveys, brushing, weeding, burning as well as adhering to applicable reporting requirements.
  • Tracking, reporting, and analyzing of safety, quality, cost and delivery results.
  • Assist Canfor in maintaining positive relations with various stakeholders, the public and government agencies.
  • Ensure all silviculture activities are conducted in compliance with legislation, and Canfor’s Safety Policy, SAFE Company certification, Environment Policy and Forest Management System.
  • Providing and supporting a positive atmosphere for personal, professional and team development.

 

This is a contract position which ends on December 20th, 2024 with the potential to extend further.

The salary range for this position is: $47,000.00-$58,500.00
