Canfor is currently seeking a Co-Op Student to support both the Communications team.


The Role:
This position requires well established organizational skills, a high level of motivation and energy, excellent communication skills and a desire to work in a fast paced team environment.

Depending on the successful candidate’s skills and interests, the ability to tailor and grow the responsibilities of the position may be available.

Skills You'll Learn:

  • Provide PowerPoint support (editing and basic layout skills required)
  • Provide internal and external writing support
  • Organize and cleanup photo library and digital files
  • Support on sponsorship, donation and scholarship administration (prepare letters, arrange cheques)
  • Develop and organize system that outlines and tracks sponsorship recognition opportunities (e.g. when swag can be handed out, where logo can be placed, banner placements)
  • Update social media content library
  • Post social media content
  • Scan traditional and social media daily on key topics
  • Draft biweekly digital signage / Canfor TV support
  • Support with occasional event planning
  • Schedule and plan meetings and appointments

 

Preference given to those with the following skills or experience:

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Comfortable editing Microsoft PowerPoint presentations
  • Familiarity with design software and technologies (such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) is an advantage
  • A keen eye for aesthetics and details
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and take direction well
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks
  • Ability to do on-line research in support of HR policy and governance work 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on customer delivery
  • Ability to meet deadlines and flexibility with work schedule are required
