Certified Instrument Mechanic

The Opportunity:
We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Instrument Mechanic to come make an impact at our pulpmill operations.

The Role:
As part of the Electrical and Instrumentation team you will apply your knowledge of instrumentation and red seal technical chops at our highly innovative mill facilities. You will also:

  • Ensure safety standards are met by following Canfor safe work and lockout procedures
  • Develop strong working relationships with your peers and team
  • Maintain equipment and troubleshoot problems as they arise


The Candidate:
Your background includes a valid IP or BCTQ and more than 3 years industry-related experience, including direct expertise with PLC’s, electronic controls and analytical instrumentation. You’re also capable of working in a Distributed Control Systems environment.

  • Red seal or Interprovincial Trade Qualification
  • Experience in electronic controls, valve repairs and transmission calibrations
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Solid background in heavy industry and construction
  • Knowledge of the pulp and paper industry is an asset, as is an electrical trade background
