The Opportunity

Canfor is currently seeking a Benefits & Pension Administrator within our corporate Total Rewards department. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the administration and coordination of the company’s Canadian benefits and pension programs.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate various salaried employee and retiree benefit programs between the employee, insurer, manager, human resources representatives and any other relevant parties.
  • Administer salaried retiree and temporary employee benefit plans.
  • Work with insurers to resolve benefit claim issues.
  • Assist human resources representatives or beneficiaries with life and accident insurance claims.
  • Assist with employee vacation administration.
  • Distribute benefit renewal rates and update rate tables in system for hourly and retiree groups.
  • Coordinate corporate recognition programs.
  • Maintain databases, create charts and tables and update presentations or reports
  • Answer general questions regarding the various policies, programs, processes and procedures.
  • Coordinate periodic mass mail outs such as pension governance updates.

  • Are known for interacting with people using tact and diplomacy;
  • Can clearly explain facts, procedures, programs or policies verbally or in writing;
  • Are well versed in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook):
  • In Word, you are familiar with creating templates and mail merges, inserting graphic elements and adding hyperlinks to documents;
  • In Excel, you are familiar with mathematical functions, can work in multiple spreadsheets and can navigate in databases, as well as easily create charts and tables to report on data;

  • Are recognized for your ability to balance multiple priorities and adapt quickly to situations and people;
  • Place a high premium on the accuracy and rigor of the work you complete;
  • Have a proven record of handling confidential and sensitive information;
  • Believe in the importance of teamwork, collaboration and meeting your commitments;
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strive for opportunities to learn and develop professionally.

 

Education and Experience

      •  
  • College diploma in business administration or human resources preferred;
  • Have practical knowledge of human resources, benefits or pension program administration.
