The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the Maintenance Planner is a key member of the Maintenance Team and, as such, is responsible for the planning of preventive maintenance and ensuring work is performed without undue risk.  The focus will be on building and maintaining a strong maintenance plan and delegate and schedule work orders to achieve cost effective results in accordance with machine PMs to optimize their performance.  A key part of this role will be to plan out the daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance work functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a world class maintenance program
  • Guide and optimize the standardized scheduling and planning procedures
  • Analyze and prioritize work orders using scheduling criteria and input from stakeholders to create a maintenance schedule covering a two-week time period
  • Identify and recommend preventative measures to be implemented that are cost effective within the mill
  • Ensure the preventative maintenance program is developed and followed and that cost targets are within budget
  • Facilitate and promote a safe and positive working environment for all employees
  • Ensure that the established safety and cost performance objectives are met or exceeded on a consistent basis
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and promote open communication for all employees
  • Work closely with all parts of our business including, multi trade crews, buyers, and operational leadership to plan, schedule, and coordinate all aspects of regular maintenance activities
  • Plan and implement project work lists, duties, and WO kitting process
  • Host weekly scheduling meetings with stakeholders to review the schedule and adjust as necessary to gain commitment from maintenance and operations
  • Host regular backlog review meetings, analyzing and highlighting work orders that are out of “normal” conditions
  • Facilitate the management of all maintenance work orders using a defined workflow in the CMMS
  • Provide CMMS reporting services to all stakeholders
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to create and manage a high level “Integrated” schedule for the year
  • Assist in the management of the preventative maintenance program, ensuring preventative maintenance frequencies, job plans etc. are correct and as efficient as possible
  • Coordinate the planned work of crews to ensure both maintenance and production targets are met, and quality standards are adhered to



Required Skills:

  • Strong commitment to safety
  • 3-5 years of maintenance planning and scheduling experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Post-secondary education in a technical field or a trade qualification
  • Proven leadership skills coupled with ability to effectively manage maintenance programs
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of an electronic based maintenance program (i.e. MP2, EAM, etc.)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Project
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Adaptable to frequently changing work priorities
  • Knowledge or experience in lumber manufacturing considered an asset
