Machine Operator

Job Description: The Finger Joint Operator is responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining the CRP 2000 to ensure efficient running of production. This position requires a minimum of 2-3 years of experience operating a finger joint machine. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibilities of the Finger-Joint Operator include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

· FJ Operator is to inspect their worksite for each of the following at the start of each shift:

· Equipment is in normal operating condition

· All guarding is in place and functional

· Stay alert the entire operation in order to keep lumber safely flowing through the area according to production demands.

· Reporting any product inconsistencies and working with maintenance to fix issues as they arise.

· Perform machine setups (calibration, cleaning etc.)

· Control and adjust the functions and settings of machine

· Making sure adequate glue is supplied to the joint areas.

· Maintain work area in a neat orderly manner.

· Observes and follows all safety rules and regulations.

· Understands and is capable of completing PMs (Preventative Maintenance)

· Understands how to properly lock out the machine on an as need basis.

· FJ Operator is responsible for understanding the process of Finger Jointing which includes:

· Having an understanding of the quality of wood that is expected and the grading process.

· How to properly and effectively operate the CRP 2000 Stacker.

 

Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or equivalent. 

 

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The physical demands of the Finger-Joint Operator may include:

-The employee is required stand complete shift (8-12 hours).

-Frequent forward and lateral reaching involving repetitive movements of the shoulders, elbows, and wrists.

-Frequent turning and/or lifting of blocks
