The Opportunity:

The successful applicant will be an energetic team player that will apply their strong troubleshooting skills by performing maintenance and repairs on our rolling stock.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Taylor & Hyster forklifts (ex: 360, 160, etc.)
  • Volvo Log Loader
  • CAT Log Loader
  • CAT Knuckle Boom
  • Prentice Knuckle Boom
  • Bobcat Skid Steer
  • Various Maintenance Trucks
  • Portable Welders and Air Compressors

 

Required Skills:

  • 3-5 years' experience as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic
  • The ability to operate mobile equipment for test purposes
  • Experience with hydraulics and welding
  • Superior troubleshooting skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Solid background in heavy industry and construction
  • Knowledge of Cat, Kalmar and Taylor equipment would be an asset, as well as knowledge of the lumber manufacturing process

 

 

*** Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safety standards are met by following Canfor safe work and lockout procedures
  • Maintain and repair mobile equipment such as Taylor, Kalmar & Hyster forklifts, Wagner log loader and La Tourneau log loader, etc.
  • Operate mobile equipment for test purposes and test-drive vehicles to ensure that they run smoothly
  • Follow a checklist of inspection procedures
  • Raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts or equipment by using hydraulic jacks or hoists
  • Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, transmissions, engines, and other parts of vehicles
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and parts
  • Adjust and align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and attach system components
  • Repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts, and other mechanical or electrical equipment
