The Opportunity:
This an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join a dynamic team responsible for managing GIS and forestry databases as well as providing innovative technology solutions for the Canfor Forest Management Group (FMG). The Woodlands Information Management (WIM) Team is comprised of 15 people throughout B.C. and Alberta.

 

 

The Role:
We are looking for a highly motivated team player with excellent communication skills to be based out of the Prince George and Fort St, John regions.

The successful candidate will work closely with Woodlands customers in one of our divisions and across all other Canfor sites. Typical work will be spatial data loading, editing and management with opportunities for spatial analysis, python scripting and ArcGIS server development.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide customers with accurate and reliable products
  • Ensure the timely delivery of requests
  • Provide technical support and expertise to improve efficiencies in woodlands management systems and business processes
  • Deliver on requirements for data integrity, information requests, and infrastructure needs
  • Active participation within the WIM team on corporate wide projects

 

 

The Candidate:

  • Current student or recent graduate from a GIS program or natural resource program with a GIS focus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service and team participation skills
  • Working knowledge of the following specific technologies are required:
  • ESRI ArcGIS v10x,

 

 

Preference may be given to those with experience in:

  • SQL, PL/SQL
  • Python
  • TOAD
  • Oracle
  • ArcGIS Enterprise
  • ArcGIS Online
  • LiDar
  • Mobile GIS
  • Crystal Reports
  • ASP, .NET
  • Visual Basic, C#, jQuery, javascript
  • Trimble Land Resource Manager or Resources
