The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Superintendent is a key member of the senior management group and as such is responsible for providing overall leadership for the Maintenance Department, ensuring excellent safety performance combined with all project planning and maintenance as well as preventative maintenance programs.

 

The Role:

  • Ensuring the highest level of workplace safety
  • Provide direction, training and support for all maintenance personnel and foster a highly effective working relationship with all employees
  • Effectively liaise with the Production and Quality Control departments
  • Assist in the annual and cost control program
  • Ensure full compliance with environmental permits and applicable government regulations and corporate policies
  • Work with the senior management team to plan equipment and/or technological changes
  • Develop, implement and maintain effective preventative maintenance programs
  • Promote and implement the continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles of the Canfor Operating System

 

The Candidate:

  • Proven ability in safety management, leadership and development skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem solving and team building skills
  • Solid knowledge of Performance Management and Continuous Improvement processes
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of optimization equipment and processes
  • Proficiency in contemporary business management skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the desire to accept the challenge of working in continually changing internal/external business conditions
  • An effective communicator, with strong verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Extensive experience in an industrial maintenance environment including supervisory experience.
  • Journeyman TQ or equivalent combination of experience and education
