The Opportunity:

Canfor is currently looking for an administrative professional with a passion for details and organization to join our Fort St John Fibre team as an Administrative Assistant - Woodlands in a full time capacity.

 

The Role:

The Administrative Assistant - Woodlands reports to the Harvest Superintendent, and is responsible for processing accurate information that will support the Fort St John Fibre team. This position requires well established organizational skills, a high level of motivation and energy, excellent communication skills and a desire to work in a fast paced team environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the division (woodlands operations), and being the main contact for general Woodlands requests and inquiries,
  • Assist in HR Administration for Woodlands staff, including assisting with onboarding of new hires,
  • Safety administration, such as training database administration, Safety Pages reports, maintaining Safety Procedure Manuals,
  • Event planning and Employee Relations Activities (i.e. travel, meeting setup, lunches, safety events, hearing tests, United Way Campaign)
  • File Cabinet (digital) administration. Maintain i.e. create folders, deletions, general maintenance
  • Contracts - GSA’s and as per request. Non-replaceable and replaceable logging contracts
  • Harvest notifications and FN Information Sharing Packages
  • Process all incoming Woodlands mail and distribute. Ministry of Forest Approval documents – update Resources (Genus) and scan/save to File Cabinet/email distribution
  • Communications – maintain inventory of truck and hand-held radios. Arrange repairs and purchases/radio licenses
  • Invoice tracking
  • General Forestry Assistant Duties, preworks, general communications with Forestry Consultants, logistics planning, camp bookings, bridge site plans

 

The Candidate:

  • High school graduate with a minimum of three (3) years human resources and/or administrative experience
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with VIP and/or Empath payroll systems would be considered an asset
  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Highly motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and the desire to work in a fast paced dynamic environment
  • Flexibility, ability to multi-task, detail-orientated and positive
