You are effectively and respecfully persuasive and have proven yourself capable of developing and supporting significant cost-saving initiatives. You’re fully prepared to coordinate a multi-divisional whole log and residual fibre program for Canfor’s Kootenay Region.
Your experience in the forestry industry highlights your ability to manage the delivery of pulp logs to meet the manufacturing facility’s needs and to work effectively with Operational Superintendents to ensure pulp and saw log delivery plans are mutually efficient and cost effective.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure operations are conducted in compliance with all applicable Occupational Health and Safety Requirements, forestry legislation, Canfor’s Environmental Policy, Forestry Principles, and Forestry Management System.
- Deliver safety results that improve practices and deliver safety leadership within Canfor’s operations as well as within the forest industry generally. Implement Canfor Safety programs, establish metrics and monitor conformance.
- Negotiate and manage Pulp Log Purchase Agreements
- Manage 3rd Party managed Pulp Log Inventories
- In co-ordination with Harvesting Superintendents, forecast pulp log delivery and costs.
- Participate in Harvest Plan reviews, Forecast Reviews and development of 3 Season Plans
- Deliver on annual budgets and monthly cost projections.
- Establish and report on key performance metrics related to pulp logs and 3rd Party Agreements
- Co-ordinate, negotiate and manage secondary on block grinding programs
- Ensure 3rd Party Agreements meet quality, sorting and profile specification with actions for non-conformance
- Drive continual improvement in Canfor Supply Chain
- Support and develop cost saving initiatives that benefit Canadian Forest Products
- Meet with Government Agencies as required
- Support effective use of scaled and unscaled reloads
- Complete field visits and facility visits to monitor performance, communicate priorities, and drive continual improvement
- Foster a positive and collaborative working environment within the Central Region
The Candidate:
- Forestry or residual fibre management experience
- University Degree or Technical Diploma in the field of Forestry or related disciplines
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills
- Excellent ability to work collaboratively with inter-disciplinary groups
- Excellent negotiation skills and contract management
- Good knowledge of BC scaling practices and requirements
- Good knowledge of applicable BC legislation and policies
- Excellent computer skills and related software knowledge including forestry applications
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
You possess excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills and have expert knowledge of BC scaling practices and requirements. You have successfully established strategic plans and are confident in your ability to partner with, negotiate, and influence people across departments to achieve desired results. In a perfect world, you’ll have a University Degree or Technical Diploma in Forestry or even an RFT or RPF Designation to accompany your exceptional history of forestry or residual fibre management experience.

The salary range for this position is: $102,550.00-$146,500.00
