The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Quality Control Coordinator you will be working to maximize profit and product quality by optimizing production and grade standards to meet current market demands and customer requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and achieving targets in safety, quality, cost, delivery and employee engagement
  • Provide leadership in safety, quality, cost, delivery and employee engagement
  • Ensure the Canfor Operating System (COS) is being followed with the emphasis on abnormality response
  • Work closely with other supervisors to ensure safety, quality and production standards are understood and achieved
  • Develop and improve management systems that optimize production and lumber recovery factor.
  • Supervision of quality control processes and systems in the sawmill
  • Ensure the regular monitoring and tracking of machine center performance
  • Perform regular size checks to improve accuracy and product outturns
  • Work closely with maintenance personnel in improving quality and production of sawmill processes
  • Assist with production shift supervision as required

Required Skills:

  • Experience in sawmill scanning and optimization
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement processes, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis;
  • Knowledge of quality aspects of lumber manufacturing;
  • General level of business acumen and strong computer skills;
  • Possessing a grading ticket would be considered an asset;
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Well-developed people and team building skills;
  • Grade 12 or equivalent
