The Opportunity:
Canfor is currently seeking a motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Scaler.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely inspect, scale and complete log quality of sample loads.
  • Upload and complete samples in a timely fashion.
  • Estimates and records average log length and stem count
  • Inspect logs for compliance with specifications assigned to the plant site
  • Performs housekeeping and maintenance duties
  • Communicates and direct traffic flow of trucks loading and unloading at the plant site
  • Communicates plant safety rules to all drivers
  • Prepares daily and weekly reports on log receipts
  • Counts log  deck inventory on a regular basis and as required
  • Participate in scaling and log quality workshops when required
  • Assist weighmasters when required
  • Remain up to date with the BC Scaling Manual
  • Other duties as required.
     

The Candidate:

 

The successful candidate will bring the following experience and expertise:

  • Candidates should have computer Proficiency, self-starter and have the ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Lifting up to 10lbs regularly, lifting 25lbs occasionally, and lifting up 50lbs as needed
  • Computer Proficiency
  • Experience with Scales, record keeping and logs
  • Log Quality identification experience
  • Knowledge of the forest industry
  • Knowledge and experience with a scale system is considered an asset
  • Valid B.C Driver’s License
  • Valid Interior Scaling License
  • Waste assessments experience is an asset
