Forklift Operator
Lift Truck Operators load customer and company trucks and railcars using a forklift.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibilities of the Shipping Lift Truck Operator include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Operate a large industrial forklift to maneuver and lift packs of lumber and other items as necessary to complete tasks. Utilize hand and foot controls to safely perform tasks.
- Review a picklist. Locate, pick-up, and load packs of lumber for customers using a forklift. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of loads.
- Distinguish between different grades and sizes of lumber.
- Identify quality defects and take appropriate action to resolve quality issues.
- Work with other lift truck operators and management to complete Shipping responsibilities and respond to customer needs.
- Assist with spilled lumber by physically moving and lifting boards weighing 5 to 25lbs.
- Perform cleanup duties as required in shipping area.
- Perform inspections and check sheets on industrial forklifts to ensure they are in good operating condition.

- Climbing up and down on a large forklift
- Stooping, kneeling, or crouching, as needed, usually when straightening spilled lumber
- Lifting and/or moving from 5 to 50 lbs., as needed
Work Environment:
- Works in an air-conditioned forklift cab
- Outdoor weather conditions when outside of the lift
- Vibration
