POSITION: Planer Stick Machine Operator

 

SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION

 

Operates machinery and equipment that separate stacking sticks and runners from the units of lumber.  The operator bundles quality sticks and sort out damage sticks from operation to avoid reentry into production.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibilities of the Planer Stick Machine Operator include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Removing of damage drying stick from production
  • Standing and bending for extended periods of a 12hr shift.
  • Operating chains and belts to remove sticks, runners and carts through the operating process.
  • Assist fork-truck driver in removal or full racks.
  • Transferring filled racks to the sawmill for processing
  • Sorting sticks and runners into proper bins

 

Physical Demands:

 

  • Standing and walking
  • Using hands to touch, handle, or feel
  • Reaching with hands and arms
  • Climbing stairs
  • Stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling (On an as needed basis)
  • Lifting and/or moving from 5 to 30 lbs. on an intermittent basis, and lifting and/or moving from 5 to 50 lbs., as needed

 

Work Environment:

 

  • Moving mechanical parts
  • Outside weather conditions
  • Vibration
  • High noise levels
