As a Production Supervisor, you’ll be working for one of the largest and best-managed forestry companies in the world as you apply your skills to our daily manufacturing activities. Canfor is deeply engaged in innovation and technology, so you will be utilizing cutting-edge systems for tracking, reporting, and root cause analysis of safety, quality, cost, and result delivery. You’ll be responsible for helping to maximize product quality and profits by optimizing production standards and your strong attention to detail will come into play as you prepare budgets, manage costs, and provide support to various administrative and potentially environmental management activities.

Reporting to the Production Superintendent, the Production Supervisor is responsible for managing operations on assigned shift(s) that achieve/meet requirements for safety, environment, quality. As part of the Plant’s leadership team, you will contribute to building and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement of processes, efficiencies, and productivity.
A day in the life of a Shift Supervisor will include:
- Complete Weekly/daily audit (lockout, material handling, forklift, moulder) inspections
- Conducting pre-shift huddles and providing feedback for Crew Leader, and lead hands
- Contribute to reviews and analysis of the production performance indicators/requirements to maximize the value and quality of production outputs
- Co-ordinates the various department schedules, products and workforce to ensure that the remanufacturing plant runs smoothly
- Daily checks to ensure that proper methods and procedures are being used and that quality, safety, and environment standards are met
- Ensures a safe working environment is always maintained by enforcing Company standards and regular inspections, including but not limited to DATS, LMS, ENABELON programming
- Leading safety incident investigations from start to finish
- Provide a concise summary to the cross-shift to ensure relevant information is made available to the incoming shift
- Providing effective leadership and direction to hourly employees (coaching, cross-training, addressing and resolution of HR-related issues and concerns)
- Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement preventive measures to minimize downtime

- Demonstrated leadership skills in an industrial environment and ability to lead by example
- Flexibility to work alternate shift schedules and varying hours
- Ability to excel in a highly interactive team environment with various personalities
- Ability to perform repetitive, manual tasks for extended periods including piling lumber, standing for long hours, walking, shoveling, climbing stairs, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Excellent problem-solving skills for complex issues
- Proficiency to adopt and encourage innovative and strategic thinking
